President, CFP®

Carleton McHenry is a native Texan who has spent just about his entire working career helping people properly plan their financial future. At McHenry Capital, Carleton helps clients plan and navigate their retirement by implementing the firm’s overall retirement planning process. This process includes creating the right income strategy, building the right investment plan, and ensuring the client's estate is in proper order according to their desires.

Carleton’s expertise and authority in the field of retirement planning comes from his experience working directly with Glenn Woody and his firm in Costa Mesa, CA. Glenn’s firm specializes in retirement and he has perennially been listed as one of the “Top Wealth Managers” and “Top Dogs” in numerous publications such as Worth magazine and Bloomberg. While working with Glenn, Carleton helped advise a number of affluent clients in making a successful transition into retirement. Carleton's investment planning experience comes from his time spent working as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch and was later refined under Glenn.

Carleton received his formal financial planning education through UC Irvine's Personal Financial Planning Certificate program, and he has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business where he majored in finance. Carleton initially attended Cornell University for 2 years where he had a brief stint playing collegiate football. Carleton is a trained Grangaard Strategy Advisor, and he is also a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the organization dedicated to promoting the fee-only, fiduciary financial advisor model. In his spare time, Carleton prefers to be outdoors either hunting, fishing, or playing golf.
